Your donation helps to save lives

I.S.A.R. Germany is dependent on your donations. Even though our global relief teams work mainly on a voluntary basis, this is far from enough. The costs for an emergency aid mission after a natural disaster, a reconstruction project after such a disaster or for a national aid mission must be covered.

I.S.A.R. Germany and erlebe-fernreisen have been working together since 2012. As a tour operator for individual long-haul holidays, we always keep an eye on what is happening in the world. And in recent years, natural disasters have increasingly caused suffering and misery. We are happy to be able to regularly support ISAR as well as other aid organisations with the help of our customers. Our common starting point was and is the airport in Weeze on the Lower Rhine, where ISAR organises regular training camps for its volunteers and where we have our company headquarters with erlebe-fernreisen GmbH. Encounters are important to us - not only in the more than 40 countries around the world that we offer, but also here locally. We have been able to attend the training exercises twice so far with some of our employees and get to know many of the helpers personally. It is very impressive to see how committed everyone is!

Social and cultural commitment has been an integral part of our corporate culture since 1995 as a major annual donation. We have been supporting I.S.A.R. since 2014 because we do not want to turn our attention away from global developments and disasters, despite our traditionally predominantly regional interest. I.S.A.R.'s activities convincingly combine the aid developed in our region with the worldwide crisis areas".

Every summer, my wife and I organise a charity golf tournament at the "Weselerwald" golf club for the benefit of I.S.A.R. Germany, because in the event of a disaster, it is always a matter of human lives and the fastest and most efficient help possible on the ground. And this is precisely where we believe I.S.A.R. Germany does outstanding work that deserves our full support. We are delighted to be able to play our part with the charity golf tournament.

What you can donate

Two ISAR members in protective gear talk while one member holds a rescue dog on a leash and many people wearing masks watch in the background.

Sending rescuers into action

Getting to those affected is a mammoth logistical task and represents a high cost factor. In order for our teams to provide help quickly, they first have to arrive in the crisis area. Planned logistics are inexpensive, but our missions and destinations are unpredictable. Flight and transport costs can therefore sometimes cost 10 times more than outside a disaster. I.S.A.R. Germany is therefore dependent on your support.

Will

Save lives after your death.

"The Will is the most unselfish act in life: you forget yourself completely."
(Emanuel Wertheimer).

Dealing with our last will and testament is not an everyday situation for any of us and not necessarily a pleasant one. However, thinking about others can perhaps make this situation a little easier.

Your last will and testament can be a beginning somewhere else in this world.

With us, notaries ensure that the will of the testator is actually
and, if necessary, will assist you with the drafting of your will. Of course, you can also choose a notary you trust.

Prospective I.S.A.R. employees train in rescue operations

50 emergency services personnel who are currently in their qualification phase for deployment abroad practised the practical aspects of rescue operations together. At the Training Centre Rescue and Help (TCRH) in Mosbach, Baden, they spent a weekend practising the use of various rescue equipment, the removal of debris and the emergency medical and traumatological treatment of injured persons. In addition to the correct handling of scissors, spreaders and pneumatic lifting bags, they also learnt the basics of assessing rubble areas, self-protection in dangerous areas and the procedure for biological localisation.

The prospective emergency personnel are to become part of both the organisation's medical team and I.S.A.R. Germany's search and rescue team. I.S.A.R. Managing Director Michael Lesmeister, who led the exercise, emphasised the enormous importance of cooperation in operations and basic knowledge of all areas in which I.S.A.R. Germany is active.

Voluntary work

"Your application is welcome, but we ask that you refrain from submitting applications and enquiries of any kind regarding active collaboration or internships during a deployment. Our priorities at this time are to utilise all available resources to help the people affected by a natural disaster as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, we are unable to respond to any application enquiries at this time."

Active volunteer work

In addition to financial support for our work, there is also the opportunity to support I.S.A.R. Germany in a very practical way by actively participating as a volunteer.

Our team is divided into several components that work together on an interdisciplinary basis. These include

The Search and Rescue component, consisting of rescue specialists and rescue dogs. This team is deployed as an emergency aid unit following natural disasters abroad.

The medical component, which can either form a team together with the search-and-rescue component or provide immediate assistance worldwide on its own.

Members from both components can be called upon for a humanitarian mission.

The Information and Situation Centre team supports and coordinates operations abroad.

We are involved in the emergency services of the district of Kleve and the city of Duisburg, where we provide our biological and technical localisation services as well as our many years of experience in the field of search and rescue. In addition, I.S.A.R. Germany also frequently provides free administrative assistance in other cities and municipalities. Our search and rescue team has rescue and personal detection dogs (mantrailing and water search dogs) as well as the necessary technical equipment for locating missing persons and is alerted for various types of missions in Germany.

Our specially trained drone pilots are also active in Germany.

This variety of tasks naturally means that the requirements for active membership of the I.S.A.R. Germany team are also diverse.

However, the basic requirement for all applications is that you already have demonstrable basic knowledge in at least one of the above-mentioned areas of responsibility, which we can then build on in our internal basic training course. You should also be in very good health and physically fit (your state of health will be checked by a doctor if you are accepted), between 18 and 49 years old, have no criminal record, be able to work in a team and be flexible in terms of time.

If you fulfil these requirements and are seriously interested in joining us, please send us your application by Mail to the contact person named below. All application documents will be carefully checked. If your application meets our requirements, you will be invited to an initial introductory training course. Here you will be given a 2-day introduction to the requirements of I.S.A.R. Germany and any questions you may have will be answered individually. A few months later, you will take part in an exercise lasting several days to familiarise yourself with the company and to test your skills, workload and team spirit. At the end of the application process, a personal interview takes place in which the results are communicated.

Such a selection process, which is essential for a successful civil protection mission and is followed by 120 hours of basic training and 90 hours of specialised training, takes a lot of time and is therefore only carried out once a year.

Internship, Voluntary Social Year (FSJ), Federal Voluntary Service (BFD)

We are happy to offer young people the opportunity to complete a student internship and to gain an insight into the work of an international aid organisation as part of a course-related internship.

However, we would like to point out that due to our organisational structure, we can only offer unpaid internships for a maximum period of three months. We must also refrain from actively involving interns in assignments for logistical and, above all, safety reasons.

What we would like to offer you is the opportunity to look over our shoulders as we work in our office in Kleve (NRW). This is where we coordinate national and international projects and exercises as well as public relations work, administrative activities and much more. - In short, everything that is directly or indirectly related to maintaining our operational capability.

If you are seriously interested in an active co-operation or an internship at I.S.A.R. Germany, please contact us!

Donations in kind

Donations in kind from companies

I.S.A.R. Germany decides on a case-by-case basis together with the provider of the donation in kind whether transport to the respective project area makes sense. Please contact us in this regard.

Private donations in kind

Many citizens would like to help people in need in times of crisis with donations in kind. I.S.A.R. Germany would like to express its gratitude for these offers of help. However, we ask for your understanding that in most cases we are unable to accept them. The reasons for this are as follows:

Donations in kind are usually used goods that have to be collected, stored and then transported to the people in need. The costs for this often exceed the value of new purchases. Transporting the relief supplies collected through individual donations presents us with major logistical problems that are eliminated if the required relief supplies are purchased close to the disaster area.

If the material goods are to be donated to crisis areas abroad, further problems arise:

  • The donated goods are often not adapted to the cultural customs prevailing in the crisis area, and there is often a lack of equipment for preparing food.
  • The provision of different goods does not allow for fair distribution to local people. This also applies to pre-packed food parcels, as these should be tailored to the size of the families in need.
  • The transport of relief supplies collected through individual donations presents us with major problems when it comes to border formalities. As it is not possible to check the contents of every single parcel put together by donors, it is not possible to draw up the correct loading documents required for crossing the border. This means that the import regulations of the countries in which the needy are to be helped cannot be complied with.
  • The purchase of consumer goods at the place of use also has the advantage that it (re)strengthens the local economy and the victims of the disaster generate their own income.

Nevertheless, you can help us with your donations in kind. For example, you could auction them on eBay in favour of I.S.A.R. Germany and use the proceeds to support us and people in need.
