A primary school for the needy has been opened in Bosomabena in Ghana. The project of the NGO „Go for Ghana“ and its director, Kwasi Heiser, was supported by I.S.A.R. Germany and our partner organisation BRH. The result is a school with eight classrooms, a library, a staff room and a kitchen. A residential building with twelve dormitories, a common room, toilets and showers was also built. The project was initiated by „Go for Ghana“ in 2016.
The school will be able to care for around 240 children in the future. Most of them come from Bosomabena and the surrounding area. There was no school until now. The capacity of the school in the neighbouring village is exhausted. As a result, many people in Bosomabena have been left without an education. In the past, only 23 children were taught in a church.
The project, which has now been completed, also makes it possible to look after around 100 street children. Until now, they have mainly lived on the streets of the capital Accra. The boys and girls were left to fend for themselves, with no family ties and no permanent shelter. They can now be taught at school. They are housed in the newly constructed residential building. The school project, which has now been completed, is intended to prevent them from becoming drug users or criminals. The children are now receiving an education and the chance to attend secondary school or complete vocational training later on.
A well was also drilled in Bosomabena as part of the project. This ensured a supply of clean drinking water for the residents. Previously, the village had no public water supply. There was only one water hole.
