Following the serious explosion in Beirut, the Duisburg-based aid organisation I.S.A.R. Germany sent a team of experts to the Lebanese capital on Wednesday evening. The team includes a doctor, a hazardous materials expert and two logisticians. They are supporting the team from the German Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW) as part of a joint operation.
In addition, a reconnaissance team from the aid organisations I.S.A.R. and BRH Bundesverband Rettungshunde e.V. is flying to the Lebanese capital to assess and, if necessary, prepare the deployment of an emergency medical unit.
A total of seven experts from North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate and Berlin are being sent to the disaster area.
