Aid for flood victims in Bosnia-Herzegovina
Duisburg. In June 2014, the Duisburg-based aid organisation I.S.A.R. Germany transported almost two tonnes of relief supplies to the flood region in Bosnia-Herzegovina. The medicines and water treatment equipment were handed over to the hospital in the town of Orasje. The aid delivery includes medicines for diarrhoea, antibiotics, painkillers and water purification tablets. According to the team leader, Tim Poluzyn from Duisburg, the people are very grateful for the help from Germany. There are clear gaps in medical care in particular. There is a lack of medication supplies. More donations are urgently needed in order to be able to provide further aid. At the same time, the hospital wards have to treat significantly more patients than normal. The 36-year-old is particularly impressed by the positive attitude of the people in the disaster area. "People are helping each other to quickly overcome the consequences of the flood. It is very fascinating to see this," says Poluzyn.
