Beijing. I.S.A.R. Germany is currently taking part in a German business delegation's trip to China. The talks with the country's authorities are focussing on disaster risk management and disaster relief. Florian Melchert is travelling to China on behalf of I.S.A.R.. During the trip, he will provide information about the range of tasks of our aid organisation in the areas of earthquake rescue, medical care for disaster victims and humanitarian aid. He referred to the extensive operational experience in these areas and the plans to have the medical component of I.S.A.R. certified as a Foreign Medical Team (FMT 2) by the World Health Organisation (WHO) in the coming year, presumably as the first team worldwide.
In China, the aim is to establish contacts and find partners for an exchange of experience and possible cooperation. On the first day in China, talks were held at the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. In the city of Tianjin, meetings are planned with the members of the city government responsible for disaster prevention.
