As part of I.S.A.R. Germany's involvement in disaster control, the Duisburg aid organisation was alerted to Duisburg-Rheinhausen at around 5 a.m. on Friday morning.
A pensioner went missing there. The 85-year-old woman was last seen on Thursday evening. When her family realised that she was no longer at home, they reported her missing to the authorities. At the request of the police, I.S.A.R. was deployed with three sniffer dogs and a team of nine. Together with the police, they searched the entire residential area around Berthaplatz in the Hochemmerich district of Rheinhausen. The search was then extended in the direction of the Rhine flood plain. I.S.A.R. also received support from the Wesel squadron of the Federal Association of Rescue Dogs (BRH). The colleagues were deployed with several area search dogs in and around the residential area.
The woman was finally found alive after several hours of searching at around half past eight.
