For 16 years, Helmut Haller shaped and guided the fortunes of the BRH Bundesverband Rettungshunde e.V. as President. The honorary president of the I.S.A.R. partner organisation has now been honoured with the Federal Cross of Merit.Helmut Haller recognised early on that the BRH Bundesverband Rettungshunde needed to invest in the professional training of its teams. „Good training is our product,“ he used to say. With the acquisition of the Anita Thyssen Home in Hünxe (North Rhine-Westphalia), the first BRH training centre was established; a few years later, Haller laid the foundation stone for today's Training Center Retten und Helfen in Mosbach in the Neckar-Odenwald district (Baden-Württemberg). At the same time, he promoted the recognition of the BRH squadrons in the disaster control organisations of the federal states.

Helmut Haller stepped down from the BRH Executive Committee at his own request for health reasons at the 2016 Association Day. Since then, he has been Honorary President. On Friday, Haller was presented with the Federal Cross of Merit by the Minister of the Interior of Rhineland-Palatinate, Roger Lewentz, in Bad Ems.

I.S.A.R. Germany would also like to congratulate Helmut Haller on this extraordinary honour for his commitment.
