The aid organisations I.S.A.R. Germany and BRH Bundesverband Rettungshunde have completed their mission in Indonesia. The team returned to Germany at the weekend.
The mission began after a severe earthquake and tsunami in the Palu region at the end of September. The experts brought systems for drinking water treatment and power generation to the disaster area. This means that around 2,000 people can now be supplied with fresh drinking water every day. The deployment was based on an international request for assistance from the Indonesian government. The government had asked for drinking water treatment plants and emergency power generators to be made available. The presidents of I.S.A.R. Germany and BRH, Dr Daniela Lesmeister and Jürgen Schart, thanked the 14 volunteers. Their efforts had helped to improve the situation of many people in the region.
