Armenian President Prof Dr Armen Sargsyan has received a team from I.S.A.R. Germany in the capital Yerevan. In his speech, Sargsyan said: "If you look at the number of people we have lost, it is a tragedy. There is only one way to defeat the virus and that is to fight it globally. That's why we all have to fight it together. From this perspective, it is important to see what I.S.A.R. Germany is doing in Armenia."
With his reception, Armen Sargsyan not only wanted to thank the aid organisation, but also Germany and the people of Germany, said the head of state. He also expressly thanked Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel and Federal President Steinmeier, who had made UN support for Armenia possible.
Addressing the I.S.A.R. team, the President said that he wished every team member good health and happiness. "You are working on the front line of the battle," said the Sargsyan, expressing his respect for the team.
The I.S.A.R. team has been working in Armenia since 13 July, supporting local institutions, hospitals and administrations in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
