An aid transport from I.S.A.R. Germany and the partner organisation BRH Bundesverband Rettungshunde departed from Hünxe in North Rhine-Westphalia to Ukraine at midday. On board are several tonnes of equipment for the intensive medical care of patients. This includes medication, anaesthetics, infusions, surgical instruments, an operating table, surgical clothing, bandages and ventilators. In addition, equipment for Starlink satellite internet, tent heaters, sleeping mats, emergency power generators, hygiene kits and sterilisers are being transported to the war zone. The transport is being financed by the "Stiftung RTL - Wir helfen Kindern e.V." foundation and will arrive in Ukraine at the beginning of next week.
"The people in Ukraine urgently need help. It is important for us to be able to contribute our experience from international missions," says I.S.A.R. President Dr Daniela Lesmeister. "With the 'Stiftung RTL - Wir helfen Kindern' foundation, we have a strong partner at our side." Foundation Director Wolfram Kons explained: "Organisations like I.S.A.R. are of crucial importance right now. People in Germany know this too. It is an overwhelming help that I have never experienced before in my 27 years of working for the foundation."
Also on board the transport are a tonne of long-life food and several thousand power banks. These have been donated by companies or financed by donations from private individuals. The transport will bring a total of 15 tonnes of relief supplies to Ukraine.
