The aid organisations I.S.A.R. Germany and BRH Bundesverband Rettungshunde are sending a search and rescue team to the Turkish disaster region following the severe earthquake in Turkey. 42 team members with seven rescue dogs will take off on a special flight from Cologne/Bonn Airport on Monday evening. The aircraft is scheduled to fly to Gaziantep. In consultation with the Turkish authorities, the team will move from there to the area of operation. The exact time of departure has not yet been finalised. We are currently assuming that the aircraft will take off for Turkey at around midnight.

The I.S.A.R. Germany and BRH team specialises in the search and rescue of trapped people. In addition to rescue dogs, special search technology (e.g. listening devices, bioradar, search cameras) is also used to find people under the rubble. The rescue specialists are responsible for freeing the victims from the collapsed buildings. I.S.A.R. Germany has been certified as a Medium Search and Rescue Team for international rescue operations by the UN sub-organisation INSARAG since 2007.  The campaign is supported by the „Stiftung RTL - Wir helfen Kindern“ foundation and Aktion Deutschland Hilft.
