Over the past 36 months, a team from I.S.A.R. Germany has been able to participate in an EU project in the HORIZON 2020 which focussed on the research and development of digital and smart tools for rescue services, fire services and - relevant for ISAR Germany - international disasters and major emergencies such as earthquakes, tsunamis and other events. Together with 21 partners, international universities, fire brigades and first responder organisations from Spain, Greece, Great Britain, Slovenia, Austria, France and Germany, a computer-controlled smart helmet was developed, which we were also able to test in various scenarios. With this helmet and the integrated HoloLens glasses with various programme modules, the work and safety of SAR teams can be improved in the future.

To this end, we were in Weeze and Thessaloniki in training scenarios for major emergencies, in Spain in the mountains with the mountain rescue service and in France in a fire service test tunnel in order to test and improve the interaction of the 15 different sensors with biosignals, WiFi signal finder, gas warning system and odour sensors, digital localisation of injured and buried persons, display-controlled communication and other future-oriented subsystems. After three years, this project came to a provisional conclusion today in Madrid.

In many discussions, all partners were very happy with the results and the profitable international European cooperation and collaboration was once again in the foreground.
