The ISAR Germany’s assessment team is currently in Venezuela, where he is gaining a detailed understanding of the disaster situation on the ground. The destruction is extensive, and the situation in large parts of the affected area remains unclear. Access to the disaster area is also restricted: numerous roads are blocked by traffic, making it difficult to move around the affected area.

As well as carrying out site surveys, the team advises the German Embassy on medical issues. At the same time, intensive discussions are taking place with representatives of the embassy, the local authorities and the Project partners of ISAR Germany on site. According to the latest information, the needs assessment indicates a particularly high demand in the the medical sector.

Over the coming days and weeks, ISAR Germany, together with its project partners, will be focusing on the Procurement and delivery of the necessary relief supplies. The first consignment is already on its way: in collaboration with the Medicines Aid Organisation action medeor Relief supplies are being delivered to the disaster area.
