100 tool kits for construction, electrical, plumbing, fitting and carpentry work have arrived in Venezuela. They are intended to assist with the reconstruction of schools damaged by the earthquake. The tools were donated by the THW Foundation for earthquake relief. Rhenus Logistics supported their transport to Venezuela. The tool kits were shipped to the country by sea.
Several organisations were involved before the donation reached its recipient. Lions Germany and ISAR Germany coordinated the collaboration with the partner in Venezuela. The German Embassy and the Venezuelan Chamber of Foreign Trade also supported the project. The tools were taken over by Fe y Alegría Venezuela. This educational organisation is a partner of ISAR Germany and will use the kits in areas where schools need to be repaired or rebuilt.
The equipment covers a range of trades. This means the tools can be used for work on buildings as well as on electrical and plumbing installations. For Fe y Alegría, the kits remain on site even after the initial repairs have been carried out and can be used for further work. For the organisation, this involves more than just repairing damaged buildings. Schools give children and young people a sense of normality back after a disaster. The sooner classrooms can be used safely again, the sooner lessons can resume.
