With a symbolic press of a button, our mission statement was published at the end of February. It is more than just a text on a website - it is the result of an intensive joint process involving the entire I.S.A.R. Germany team.Experiences from assignments, different perspectives and many open discussions have helped us to clearly formulate our common self-image.
Our mission statement was developed as part of the Start Social scholarship programme. During this time, we received valuable support and important input from our coaches. Their external perspective, their experience and their constructive feedback have significantly accompanied and enriched the development process - for which we are very grateful.
Our mission statement summarises who we are, what we stand for and how we want to act - today and in the future. It was not created at a desk, but from practical experience: from operations under extreme conditions, from responsibility for each other and from the common goal of helping people in need in the best possible way.
Jointly developed - jointly supported
It was clear from the outset that everyone should be involved in shaping this mission statement. Emergency services, volunteers, full-time and part-time staff - every perspective counts. This is precisely why the mission statement is so authentic. It not only describes values, but also what we live by and put into practice every day.
Orientation for our daily actions
In disaster situations, there is little time for lengthy decisions. Our mission statement gives us orientation and support - in our operations, in our cooperation and in our dealings with partners and supporters. It helps us to act clearly, humanely and professionally, even under pressure.
A beginning, not an end
By publishing our mission statement, we are setting an example - both internally and externally. It is a promise to the people we help and to all those who accompany and support us. At the same time, it is a living process: our mission statement grows with us, with new experiences and new challenges.
